Special arrangements can be made to take guided tours around Kuujjuaq
if you're visiting for a few days. Some, if not most, tour operators
incorporate it into their packages.
The most popular tour in the winter is the dog
sledding tour. There are different packages available for these
tours. If you're in town for a few days and would like to get a
quick tour or would like to experience what the Inuit used for transportation
before the modern, motorized vehicles, you can make arrangements
with one of the local experienced mushers to take you out for half
a day or a full day. Other arrangements can be made for a full weekend.
There is nothing more exhilarating than traveling on a nice, warm,
sunny day by dog sled in the winter.
Boat tours are
also available in the summer. If you're here on business and have
an extra day for leisure, this is an opportunity to hire an experienced
guide to take you up river or down river. You can buy a temporary
fishing licence at the local Landholding Corporation and go fishing
for the day!
