There are municipal services that are provided by the Northern
Village of Kuujjuaq. The services range from water delivery, sewage
collection and garbage collection. In the winter the roads are cleared
regularly with a snow plow. In the summer the paved roads are constantly
maintained. Heavy Equipment services are also available.
The
Kuujjuamiut Society operates recreation facilities at the Kuujjuaq
Forum where there is an arena, gymnasium, fitness center, and a
bowling alley. Built in 1992 the Kuujjuaq Forum provides different
activities everyday. The different levels of hockey teams practice
in the arena every evening. Every year around February the Peewee
hockey players from Nunavik travel to Quebec City to compete in
the International Peewee Tournament. In addition, every hockey season
the different leagues compete in the regional tournaments that are
hosted in different communities. The different leagues' organization
is managed by the Kuujjuaq Minor Hockey League
For individuals who do not like play sports but want to stay fit,
membership is available for the fitness center. It is complete with
free weights and cardio machines. The municipal swimming pool is
open during the summer months between June and September.

Emergency services available in Kuujjuaq include the Tulattavik
Ungava Hospital (964-9090), which provides health and dental
services to all the residents of the Ungava Coast, Kativik
Regional Police Force (964-9111) which serves to protect
all the citizens in the Nunavik Region, and the Kuujjuaq
Fire Brigade (964-9000) which serves the municipality of
Kuujjuaq.
The Tulattavik Ungava Hospital has a staff of dentists, an orthodontist,
doctors, nurses, nurses' aids, and patient services. Patients who
arrive from other nearby villages stay at the transit that's connected
to the hospital.
A majority of the patients are expecting mothers who must come
to Kuujjuaq to deliver their babies. Patients with medical procedures
that require surgery are usually sent to Montreal.
Banking
services are available at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce
which provides an Automated Banking Machine which is open 24 hours.
The hours of operation at the teller are from 10 am to 3 pm Monday
to Friday except on Thursday the teller stays open until 5 pm.
The Halutik Fuel Inc., a subsidiary of Makivik provides
diesel and regular fuel to the public in addition to snow clearing
and plowing services.
The Canada Post Corporation sorts mail into Postal
Boxes for the community where they will be picked up. The hours
of operation are Monday to Friday 9 am to 5:30 pm. They supply everything
from stamps to postcards to special coin collections.
